LUCKY dog! LUCKY dog! I’m a very LUCKY dog! I am even more of a LUCKY dog now that I am with Rover Rescue. When I was sitting in a hot kennel in the local animal shelter in Southern Indiana, I thought the gods had turned their backs on me. I believe that it was no coincidence that there was an opening in a foster home just when I needed to break free. The 5 hour transport north was rough on me, but was so worth the effort. You see, I am no longer a spring chicken. The vet places me between 10 to 12 years old. At this point in my life, I am looking for a soft comfy place to hang my head. I have found this thing called a couch works just fine for me. Do you have one at your house? My foster family thinks that I was kept as an outside dog in my younger years. I may have been employed as a guard dog as I am a pretty good sized German Shepherd mix, weighing in at 71 pounds. However, there is not a mean bone in my body and I am not a big barker. I look really intimidating when I roll over on my back asking for belly rubs. My teeth indicate that I was probably kept on a chain most of my life. I was missing a majority of my front teeth when I arrived; a sign of chewing on a hard metal. The front teeth I still had were broken and causing me much pain. My vet worked through her lunch hour removing all the infected and bad teeth so I can feel so much better now. It is recommended that I eat soft food, but I will still eat some hard kibble with my back molars. I am not a big eater and my foster mom has been bribed into making me scrambled eggs when she thought I needed some food in my tummy. She now knows to wait on me to decide to eat. I am a very relaxed house resident. There has been no need to crate me as I have been accident free and am not destructive. I would be great dog for just about any family. I am not going to be a great playmate for a younger child or energetic dog. I would rather snooze my days away. I have been in the house with younger dogs and did fine with them. I just told them a time or two that I wasn’t interested in their crazy notions. If you are looking for a low-keyed, quiet companion, please call my foster mom, Darla, at 630-406-9405. She would be glad to tell you about me, LUCKY. I would love to have the stars align and find my furever home. My adoption fee is $150.
