On February 20th Kingston was placed on a transport and headed to Illinois, which is when we began fostering him. Kingston is a 1 ish year old Australian shepherd/retriever mix is what the shelter said. He was a stray so we don't know much about Kingston's history. Kingston has been a very sweet dog that loves getting some attention and things are going very well at our home to date.
What we can tell you about Kingston is that he is a handsome guy who is a very loyal and lovable dog. He is young, has some energy when he wants, but not too crazy. He would do best in a family that is on the active side so that Kingston can burn off some of that puppy energy. He is super friendly, will snuggle right up against you and wouldn't say no to being pet or given some affection. Kingston just loves being around people and close to where you are. He has learned the routine where first thing in the morning we get up, go outside and go to the bathroom, then come inside and eat breakfast. Kingston would love a dog buddy to play with or could be the only dog in the home. We had another foster and the dogs got along very well. Kingston enjoys playing with all kinds of toys, ropes and balls. He has not shown any aggression with food or toys.
Kingston sleeps in our bedroom at night on the floor. He appears to be mostly potty trained but has had one accident in the house since we've started fostering him. As with all new fosters we make sure they get outside frequently and learn the routine and behavior we are looking for. Kingston will need some leash work. He does know how to sit. All Kingston wants is to be loved and given some attention.
I would say Kingston has a medium level of energy since he is still pretty young. It would do Kingston some good to have someone that is willing to spend some time with him, take him on walks, continue to get him some exercise and teach him how to be a great family dog. Some basic obedience training would be beneficial for him. This great guy deserves a forever home and would make a great addition to your family. Kingston is up to date on all his vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. For more information contact Mark or Karla at 630-881-8286 or e-mail us at [email protected] The adoption fee is $225.
