Holy Minestrone! If you think Sally Fields was a cute little GIDGET, you should meet me! I am the more adorable GIDGET! Just like in the TV show reruns, I am the young girl with dark hair, brown eyes and a big personality. I was taken to an animal shelter in Southern Indiana when I was found as a stray. The workers said I was extremely scared while in their care. They were so happy when there was an opening with Rover Rescue. My foster mom seems to think I was accustomed to indoor living. I made best friends with the couch when I first arrived in Illinois. I am no longer as anxious and my confidence level has risen greatly.

Even though my name is a combination of girl and midget, I am not really that small. I am a great mid-sized pooch, weighing in at 39 pounds. I shouldn't get much bigger as the guess is that I am 1 year old. I have a crazy, wiry, black and white coat that you cannot resist petting. The vet seems to think I am a German Wirehaired Pointer mix or Wirehaired Pointing Griffon mix. I would agree and I even have the docked tail for which these breeds are known. I love hanging out with my friends, whether they be 2 legged or 4. I would do great with just about any age of human. However, I am still learning not to jump. I would sure hate to knock down someone unstable on their feet. I have been introduced to several dogs and have had no issues. A canine playmate would be ideal, especially if they like to romp and play and be rowdy. If I can't get the other dogs in the house to play, I can entertain myself. I adore toys and will throw balls for myself to chase and catch. I am a sporting dog so I love to be active and to be outside. I am not going to be happy as a couch potato. I am still young so I can find myself in trouble if left to my own devices.

My foster family does crate me while they are at work. To be honest, I really do not like my crate and will complain for a few minutes before I quiet down. I may not be the best candidate for an apartment or townhome living. I am doing very well with my potty training, but my temporary family is really good at keeping me on a schedule. I will sometimes whine when I need to go outside. My favorite place to sleep is in your bed and I have to be touching my human. I love to go for car rides and I am honing my leash walking skills. With patience and practice, I will soon be a pro walking companion. I am told that I a smart cookie. I know how to sit, take treats nicely and will give paw. If you are thinking about adding a furbaby to your family, definitely call about me, GIDGET. My foster mom, Darla, will love to tell you all about me. You can reach her at 630-406-9405.
