Josie is about 4 years old and a terrier mix. She is about 45 pounds and has the most adorable dark chocolate markings on her head and rear. She was found as a stray and appears to have had a few litters. Josie was chosen to come up to Rover Rescue because she is such a sweet and good girl. It was found out that she has heart worms before the transport, but this beautiful soul needed to be saved. Josie will receive her heart worm treatment in the middle of April and then be ready for her forever home about 1-2 months after that. Josie is housebroken and crate trained. The one accident she did have in the house, I believe, was because I was watching her outside. It appears she is a shy girl and will empty her bladder only when no one is watching. Josie has been great with the other dogs in the foster home and at the dog park. She pulls on the leash, so we are using a harness for her now. Josie is curious and wants to be with her family, no matter where they may go aka the bathroom. She has a medium energy and will do best with a fenced back yard or a few walks thru out the day. She is learning what toys are and how to snuggle on the dog beds and couch. You can tell she has not had the best life, but she is ready to take every bit of love offered to her. Because of having been treated for heart worm, she will need to be on heart worm preventative year round. Heart worm treatment is very hard on the dogs and one pill a month could have prevented this. Josie is up to date on her immunizations, microchipped and will be spayed prior to adoption. Please call Jen 630-801-3294 if you have any questions or would like to meet Josie. Her adoption fee is $225.
Adoption fee includes:
- free 30 days of pet insurance (requires activation)
- age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies
- heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive (when necessary)
