Meet Hugo, as in Hugo the hippo. He reminds me of the Disney character as he's short and wide. Hugo is an approximately 1 year old pitbull. He weighs 58 pounds and could possibly grow a little more due to his age. Don't let Hugo's scary looks intimidate you as he's a scaredy cat. He was described as a fun loving friendly dog in the shelter and I have found him to be the same. In the shelter he was kenneled with a alpha German shepherd and was very submissive to her and now here he's with Pandora who's also a bossy girl and he has adapted just fine. He also just ignores all the other dogs here. Hugo appears to be housetrained and has not been destructive. He was found as a stray but believe he had a home at one time because he loves to chill on the couch so guess he would love a home that would allow this. When he first got here he would whine like he was lonely, maybe missing his previous home, but has settled in nicely now. He's pretty quiet as I really have not heard him bark. He gets scared/nervous when someone in the home hollers so maybe he was not treated well but despite that he's friendly and craves attention. UPDATE: After having Hugo a couple weeks now this is what I found about him. He is housetrained. He is not destructive. He loves, loves, loves people. He can climb so I am very confident he would scale a 4-5 foot fence so either a 6 foot privacy or leashed walked which he'll need some practice at as he's extremely strong and pulls at times. He gets along with the dogs here and for the most part all he meets. He can be a little bullheaded when time to go in his crate, so we made a game of getting a treat and telling him to go in his house, works perfectly. He was at an adoption event and was just WONDERFUL. He can get a little jealous in the home if another dog is getting too much attention. When he first came he was a little growly in the crate with a very alpha female but believe it was just fear as once they were in the yard together, it was all play and he was the submissive one but due to this and him getting a little jealous sometimes, I think he would not mind being the only prince of the home. He's a big lover and makes a great snuggle partner. He also rides nicely in the car, sits in the passenger seat nicely and watches where we are going and even enjoys going thru the drive thru to get hamburgers, he loves it. I believe he will make a nice addition to most any home but due to his strength, older children may be better and also if you rent need to show proof that bully breeds are allowed. Hugo has been neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. If you would like to meet this silly boy please call Jody at 708 268-6965. His adoption fee is $225.00.
