George, about a 2 year old Great Dane mix, was a stray from Southern Indiana so we don't know a lot about his history. George is about 80 lbs and is just a sweetheart that loves getting some attention. On November 24th George was placed on a transport and headed to Illinois, which is when we started fostering him. So far things are going great.
What we can tell you about George so far is that he is a great looking dog who is a very loyal, lovable dog and has a big heart. He is super friendly and wouldn't say no to a nice belly rub or being pet. George just loves being around people and close to where you are. He always appears happy and is quickly adjusting to his foster home. George is learning the routine where first thing in the morning we get up, go outside and go to the bathroom, then come inside and eat breakfast. We are teaching him some manners and have George sit before we feed her, although that was easy because he already knew how to sit. George would do great in a home with another medium-large dog and enjoys playing or would be fine by himself. We have a 65 lb Shepherd of our own the dogs get along wonderfully. No small dogs or cats for George however. George has started to show some interest in toys and has not exhibited any type of aggression, with food or toys. George gets super excited when his leash is shown to him but probably needs someone to work with him once the weather warms up a bit.
George has been out during the day as someone has always been home. At night he is currently in his crate but we are hoping he graduates to sleeping in our bedroom on the floor very soon. He sleeps through the night without making a noise. I'd say George is potty trained and has marked once or twice in the house yet. As with all new fosters we make sure they get outside frequently and learn the routine and behavior we are looking for. All George wants is to be loved, played with, and given some attention. George has settled in and enjoys laying on the couch with you or can lay on the floor nearby.
I would say George has a medium level of energy since he young and would do great in any home. George enjoys exploring the outdoors and roaming around our fenced in backyard. It would do George some good to have someone that is willing to spend some time with him, take him on walks, continue to get him some exercise and teach him how to be a great family dog. This great guy deserves a forever home and would make a great addition to your family. George is up to date on all his vaccinations, has been neutered and microchipped.
