One very cold, snowy winter day, a man opened his
door in Southern Indiana to find Roxie lying outside on his stairs. She was
nearly starved and frozen to death. Taken to a local shelter, Roxie waited to
be either be euthanized or saved by a rescue group. Fortunately, she found
her way to Rover Rescue. With regular food and a warm bed at one of Rover
Rescue’s foster homes, Roxie slowly recovered. For awhile, she suffered from
severe separation anxiety, understandable considering the trauma she had
suffered. But eventually she became more secure and confident in her human
friends’ return, although she is still terrified of storms. True to her coonhound heritage, 4 year old Roxie
loves to chase squirrels and bays at loud vehicles such as motorcycles and
garbage trucks. She has become a master at snatching food out of microwaves
and opening cabinet doors to help herself to goodies. This clever girl can
actually open the back door when she’s ready to come inside the house. She’s
friendly, energetic and her big brown eyes will melt your heart. Roxie is still waiting to find that special
someone who will take her home and love her the way she should always have
been loved. She needs an understanding person who can give her plenty of
attention, a sense of security and a high-fenced yard so she has room to romp
